Breeding Blue Throated Macaw Birds

The blue throated macaw is known to mate for life, reaches maturity from 2 to 4 years and breed ones each year. Because they are capable of finding strong empty spaces within trees, the blue throated macaw bird rarely make their own nest. The females incubate the eggs while the male macaw provides them food. When the chicks have been hatched, both macaw parents go out on a food hunt to bring back to the nest. The baby macaw will develop wing feathers that are large enough for flight and be ready for their first attempt at flight at 12-15 weeks.

Feeding Habits

Blue throated macaws will feed on seeds, nuts, grains and leaves in the wild, but in captivity it is good you provide your bird with a healthy diet with enough vitamins like vegetables, pellets, fruits and enough water to keep them hydrated. Poor feeding habits can lead to destructive habits like feather plucking, regular shower is mandatory to prevent skin infections.

Blue throated macaws are large birds and should be provided with a big cage that will suit their size and also within your budget, the cage should have enough room for the bird to be able to move around and turn upside down freely. Also provide the bird with enough toys to keep it entertained
